God's Plan Unveiled!
When God led us to purchase property in Izira, Uganda in 2020, there was only a footpath to this overgrown, neglected ground. The rural village had no church or school. Recently, Izira has been divided by the local government, and this property is now in Buwembula Village. Appropriately, God saw fit to do all this, and name the village "Buwembula", which means "opening" or "unveiling." All along the way, each door has been opened, and God's plan is unveiled step-by-step. |
Proverbs 16:9 says, "A man’s heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps." Pastor Jackson, of Izira, had in his heart the needs for the people in his village. They needed a place to be taught the Word. Though he had been ministering in the village daily, and though the people already called on him as a pastor, Jackson felt led by the Spirit to have a place to gather his growing flock. While he did not have the finances to build a gathering place, he started making bricks anyway: trusting God would provide the necessary provision to complete what He was leading Jackson to do. Little did Jackson know just how much God had prepared for him to walk in!
In about a year's time, God provided for and lead us to build a church building. And as we built, He moved the government to build the road into town, which ends just beyond the property. After that, He moved the local people to bring in electricity. God opened the way for a grinding mill (which provides some financial help for the ministry), a well with a pump, and He has provided a second building, which will be for children’s ministry and will serve as a school for the village. The Sunday morning Bible classes for various age groups go through a book of the Bible, and discussion is given concerning what they have learned. Questions like, "What have I heard? What have I learned? And what other questions do I have about the text?" drive the discussions, and in this way, for the first time for many of them, they are actively studying and understanding the Bible personally, and growing in the knowledge of God and the Word.
Additionally, the property is a gathering place to feed the neighborhood children every Saturday, many of whom do not get steady meals at home. Apart from the meal, the children are also taught in a "VBS" sort of way.
With a desire to better minister in the community, we have a desire to establish a benevolence fund to support those in need within the community. These funds can be used to support widows and orphans, as well others who may be struggling.
God has opened the way for His love to be shared, and the Word to be taught, and even greater ways to serve the community of Buwembula.
If you'd like to be a part of God's work in Buwembula, we not only covet your prayers, but you can also help financially. Not only are there costs to finish the building and general maintenance, but you can also give to support the Saturday feeding program, provide Bibles, and support the needy in the community.
